Facing a cove on the Arno river, in a position both dominating and magnificent, stood the vast expanse of the del Bene estate, an old and famed florentine family. One day Leonardo Da Vinci, looking for a suggestive landscape to include in one of his works, stumbled upon Jacopo del Bene.
This latter, after having greeted him, gave him the advise to look for inspiration near the Artiminio, even at the time quite well Known for its views. Leonardo, pointing at the del Bene’s property, replied: “No,vo’lì che gli è più bello” (No, I’ll go there for it is prettier).
Since that episode, the estate was given the name of No,Vo’Li’, which has now been revived by Mrs. del Bene, last descendant of the old florientine family, for her property near Montepulciano.
